CAN I BUY A SAMPLE OF STAIN: The smallest quantities we currently offer are quarts. Our aging stains are called active stains. Because the stains are actually a "live" product, they cannot be broken down in containers less than a quart and maintain a long shelf life.

TEST SAMPLE: It is imperative that you work up samples with active wood stains. Each species (and sometimes subspecies!) will turn  a unique color. Our color charts can give you an idea what color wood will turn, but it's the client's responsibility to confirm color on their own wood. 

COVERAGE: Each STAIN product covers approximately 400-500 sq. ft. Check individual listing for exact quantities. Consider wood's individual characteristics when ordering any wood products

HOW MUCH SHOULD I ORDER:We recommend ordering 15-25% more product than your project specifies. This allows for individual wood differences, changes, learning curve, wood porosity, waste, etc. This will also save from half finished projects which can result in color inconsistency and expensive last minute shipping.

BEST PRACTICES FOR STAIN:
  • Do not apply when it's below 50 degrees.
  • Color may vary when using heat gun /  hair dryer / direct sunlight to dry.
  • Do not store in metal containers.
  • ​To maintain color purity, do not work out of the can of stain, pour what you need into plastic container.
  • When buying several containers for one job, pour them into a larger plastic bucket, to avoid batch discrepancies.

​CAN I USE MY OWN TOPCOATS? Pearl Products will not negatively interact with other brand's topcoats (no bubbling, peeling, cracking) but other brands will most likely not hold our oxidized colors.

UNIFORMITY: Pearl Products are based on the natural tannins within the wood itself, resulting wood coloration, darkness, and possibly hue will vary from board to board creating a beautiful and natural display.

LEAD TIME: Due to high demand orders larger than 5 gallons require a lead time of 4 weeks. Call to reserve your quantity to ensure the amount needed will be available.

RETURNS: No returns or exchanges possible due to the nature of the industry.

DAMAGES: Damaged or non-salable items will not be accepted for return. Items damaged during shipping must be documented *at the time of receipt and marked on the shipping slip as "Damaged" before the carrier leaves.
